“No obstacle too great, no challenge too difficult”, is definitely a phrase you would associate with Mastercraft Construction, and there is no better example of this than the  project recently undertaken by the company.

The Serpentine gallery, located in Kensington Gardens, London annually commission a world renowned architect to create a temporary “pavillion” adjacent to the Gallery itself which can be used for recitals of music and song. Public access to the project is maintained throughout the summer months, thus ensuring full utilisation of the pavilion during its time in situ.

In 2008, the pavillion designed by the highly acclaimed American architect Frank Gehry was acquired by a private art collector, who contracted Mastercraft to dismantle the structure, transport to Southern France, and then reconstruct it in his private vineyard.

The timber, steel and glass structure which reached heights of up to 16 metres posed a massive challenge to the companys’ engineering and innovative abilities. However the team involved revelled in resolving all of the complex construction issues that arose throughout this once in a lifetime project. The works were completed within the programme period, and the client was so satisfied with the professional manner in which the entire project was carried out, he intends to bring Mastercraft back to France to undertake further contracts in the near future.
